Wendell Lewis Willkie (born Lewis Wendell Willkie; February 18, 1892 – October 8, 1944) was an American lawyer, corporate executive and the 1940 Republican nominee for President. Biography Born in Alameda, California, September 3, 1888, Stanley Hiller, Sr. was an inventor, and manufacturer of machinery and plants for processing food by-products, including the first seagoing fish processing plants (1927); a California land developer (1930-1955); commercial fisheries lobbyist (1934-1938); and early aviator.
